Meet Harvey Survivor 397 AKA “Potato Chip”
Hurricane Harvey 397 AKA Potato Chip (because he was so thin and crispy!) is one of the many cats that Dr. O’Sullivan and her rescue, Holistic Animal Care, brought home to Prescott Valley by working with Best Friends Animal Society, in response to that national disaster. Harvey arrived with multiple feral cats and a few adoptable house cats that made the trip.
Harvey was a surprise, weighing only 5 pounds, very dehydrated and slow in motion. Dr. O was concerned he may be in renal failure, but blood work proved otherwise. On paper, Harvey 397 was healthy, except for his mouth.
After a long, slow recovery, surrounded by a team of loving, supportive friends, Harvey gained a few pounds and wanted to be outside. Harvey had an uneven smile and drooled a bit. At his “dental consultation”, Harvey made it clear that we could not see into his mouth. Dr. Redmon took on the challenge and Harvey 397 went into surgery. Hours later, he had all of his teeth removed, an oral-nasal fistula repaired and was doing very well. He recovered much more quickly than after his Houston experience and now lives to run off the dogs, eat as much soft food as he can get, play on 2 acres and get as much human contact as possible.
